The Event:
Steeped in surfing history, the Nike 6.0 lowers Pro in conjunction with the Oakley Pro Junior is a
6-Star PRIME ASP WQS / Grade 4 Pro Junior that boasts a field of top international professional surfers. Juniors will by vying for a piece of the $20,000 prize purse and the 2 North American slots allocated for the Oakley Pro Junior Global Challenge. Dusty Payne’s (HAW) earned a seed into the ’08 Global Challenge based on his third place performance at Lowers… which he ended up winning. The recent merger of the ASP North America and ASP Hawaii at the Junior level will add to the competitive intensity.

The Break:
Possibly the most high-performance wave on the California coast, the A-frame that is Lower Trestles has helped usher in barrier-breakers like Kelly Slater, Christian Fletcher, Shane Beschen and Chris Ward. The only ASP World Championship Tour event on the U.S. mainland, every year the Boost Mobile Pro comes to Lowers, giving the everyday work-a-day crew of locals a clearer picture of exactly what’s possible on the wave’s flawless walls and beckoning launch ramps.

The Swell:
Lowers loves anything with a little south in it. An offshore canyon sucks the swell in all summer long, making it one of the most consistent, most dependable, not to mention crowded, waves in California.

The Locals:
When they’re not out frothing on the WQS, on any given summer day you’ll find the Gudauskas brothers out schralping their home break. You’ll also find the likes of Nate Yeomans, Mike Loseness and Kolohe Andino out giving the place a proper going over.
