This young Brazilian entered the 2008 Oakley Global Challenge via his second place result in the Brazilian Qualifier behind elder junior statesman Thiago Camarão. Peterson’s incredible ability allows him to pull mind-blowing maneuvers out of his Red Bull hat. This wily little power house made the quarterfinals of the Oakley Pro Junior Global challenge defeating Jason Harris (USA), Yuki Seedwell (IDN), and the 2008 ASP World Junior Champion Kai Barger (HI) along the way. He was eventually stopped by Mitch Crews (AUS). Heartbreak aside, he has great style when he puts it on rail and mental skills in the air. We’ll be seeing a lot more of Peterson in the coming years as the next crop of young Brazilian surfers continue to assert themselves.
