Franklin has good karma, just look at his run last year. Check this out, the super chill Bahaian finished 4th in the Oakley Pro Junior Global Challenge Brazilian Qualifier behind Sao Paulo’s Miguel Pupo, and it looked like he was going to miss the big show. As luck would have it, Pupo went to the Oakley Global Challenge Qualifier in France, waxed the Euro’s, took a first place seed, bumping Serpa up into the first alternate position. Thiago Camarão relinquished his fist place seed providing a very stoked Serpa entry into the Global Challenge. Unfortunately Serpa lost his Round 1 heat to Shaun Jobert (ZAF) and Bily Stairmand (NZ), which pushed him into a repecharge heat with Mitch Crews (AUS) and Lincoln Taylor (AUS) who exercised some national strategy netting Serpa with a final result of 17th. So, another year older, another year wiser, this go around Serpa hoping to get through more on ability and less on luck.
