Possibly the most high-performance wave on the California coast, the A-frame that is Lower Trestles has helped usher in barrier-breakers like Kelly Slater, Christian Fletcher, Shane Beschen and Chris Ward. The only ASP World Championship Tour event on the U.S. mainland, every year the Hurley Pro comes to Lowers, giving the everyday work-a-day crew of locals a clearer picture of exactly what’s possible on the wave’s flawless walls and beckoning launch ramps.
Lowers loves anything with a little south in it. An offshore canyon sucks the swell in all summer long, making it one of the most consistent, most dependable, not to mention crowded, waves in California.
When they’re not out frothing on the WQS, on any given summer day you’ll find the Gudauskas brothers out schralping their home break. You’ll also find the likes of Nate Yeomans, Mike Loseness and Kolohe Andino out giving the place a proper going over.
