ONLY 8 SURFERS REMAIN IN THE 2010 OAKLEY PRO JUNIOR BRAZIL
Florianopolis, Brazil, June 4, 2010 – Day four of the 2010 Oakley Pro Junior Brazil may have been marked by rain and low temps, but for their persistence, competitors were rewarded with the best waves Praia da Joaquina has seen all week.
Caio Ibelli (SP) left nothing to chance in his round 4 heat against Luel Felipe (PE). He punted an extremely high double-grab frontside air and nailed the landing to the liking of spectators and judges alike. Ultimately, he closed the heat earning the highest heat total of the contest to date; an impressive 17.0 out of a possible 20 points.
Ibelli is one of eight surfers remaining in the Brazilian Oakley Pro Junior title race alongside Santiago Muniz (SC), younger brother of reigning Oakley Pro Junior Brazilian Champion Alejo Muniz (SC). Marthen Pagliarini (SC) remains in the race as well, having bested contest favorite Miguel Pupo (SP) by mere tenths of a point in the fifth heat of round 5 earlier this afternoon.
The first Brazilian champion of the 2010 season will be crowned in less than 12 hours with three Catarinenses (SC) doing their part not only to win, but to keep the title in the state.,
The quarterfinals will begin tomorrow morning, Saturday, June 5 at 7:30 AM.
